About the artist

Emelinda Perkins is a multidisciplinary artist from Richmond, Kentucky. Her portfolio encompasses mixed-media sculptures, paintings, functional and non-functional accessories, digital media and installations. She aims to find a bridge between a minimalist and maximalist aesthetic — as a conduit for expressing complex thoughts and emotions. Her creative process incorporates a wide range of materials, including charcoal, paint, ceramics, fabric, gel-x nails, music, and repurposed objects — allowing for an unconventional approach that aligns with a commitment to sustainability. Emelinda draws inspiration from her Venezuelan background, influencing both the overall aesthetic and choice of materials. The country's rainforests, deserts, and coasts are reflected in the color palette and the organic elements present in her work. Emelinda's background has instilled a deep appreciation for resourcefulness and ingenuity.
